Classes are offered consistently as a series that meets once a week (3 hours) for 4 consecutive weeks. A variety of subject matter is covered including landscape, florals, still life, figures, and abstraction. Focus in classes may vary from design, color, expressive color to texture. A variety of surfaces to paint on are also explored such as using gouache on gold or black gesso or using hot press paper or yupo. Each class will have teacher demonstration and one on one help in class. Classes are offered in a great setting with a supportive environment. These are intermediate classes. Drawing with Chris Messer
Classes are offered consistently as a series that meets once a week (1 1/2 hours) for 4 consecutive weeks. These classes cover basic drawing skills: consistency and repetition are the key to good drawing skills. There are a lot of tools that can be used to hone your drawing tools like understanding the picture plane and being able to see positive and negative shape. Different subject matter is explored but all with the foundation of basic drawing skill. Classes are offered in a great and supportive environment. These classes are opened to all levels. Mixed Media with Chris Messer
Mixed media classes are a great way to explore different materials and let your creative side shine. These are project-oriented classes but you may explore gelli-plate printing, linocut, creating your own stamps, and using a sewing machine. In the past, the classes have created a wide variety of items including a paper-mache horse, prayer flags, Christmas wrapping paper and card, winter wreath and travel journals. Classes include demonstration and hands on help. Classes are offered in a great and supportive environment. These classes are open to all levels. Check calendar for time and dates.
